Retiring director leaves vacancy at Choral Society
Music Director Brian Roderick will be retiring from his post at the Sippican Choral Society after 12 years. Roderick made the announcement earlier this month.
"It's been a good run and I've enjoyed almost all of it," he said. "But it's time for me to move on."
Arthur Briggs, president of the chorus, said he was sad to see Roderick go.
"You've taken us places musically we didn't know we could go, and we're a better chorus as a result," he said.
The chorus members gave their long-time director a standing ovation at the annual meeting in May.
Going forward, the chorus has established a search committee consisting of five members to find a new director. Applications are now being accepted and the position may be filled as early as July 1.
For a job description and short history of the chorus, applicants may contact the new president, Bruce Breamer by email at bgbiowa@aol.com or by regular mail at c/oSippican Choral Society, P.O. Box 709, Marion, MA 02738.
