Rochester accepting applications for senior work-off program

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Senior Center accepting applications for the Senior Tax Work-off Abatement Program. Applicants must be older than 60. This program can reduce property taxes by up to $1000. To qualify, residents must own and occupy their home. Household income can be up to $47,000.

To apply, call the Rochester Senior Center and leave a message that includes a name and mailing address. The senior center will then mail the interested senior an application. They should send the completed application with all of the requested documentation (W-9, proof of income, property tax bill) to the Rochester Senior Center at 67 Dexter Rd., Rochester,
MA. 02770.

Applicants will be referred to various town departments based on departmental needs and their skills. Credit is accrued at a rate of $12.75/hour. This program adds experience and wisdom to the town’s workforce, while easing the tax burden of Rochester seniors.
