Rochester Country Fair raising money for teen area
The Rochester Country Fair will have a new teen area this year. The main attraction will be a professional beach volleyball court, alongside cornhold tables, ladder toss and other activities.
The new teen area, called Buck Chuck Beach after the fair’s mascot, will be located at the west tree line by Gate D. The volleyball court will be centrally located next to a small hill that will make a natural grandstand for watching games or relaxing with friends.
Fair organizers hope to host a beach volleyball tournament between Old Colony and Old Rochester High School on the Saturday afternoon of the fair, for both boys' and girls' teams. The court and the games will be open and first come, first serve for the rest of Friday and Saturday.
To fund the new area, organizers are running a campaign called “Bucks for Buck Chuck.” The goal is to raise $4,000 for the equipment and materials needed for the court and games. Currently, the campaign has raised about half that.
To contribute, send donations to Town of Rochester Country Fair, P.O. Box 321, Rochester, MA 02770. Write “Bucks for Buck Chuck” on the memo line to designate funds for this project.
The fair is Aug. 18-20. For more information visit www.rochesterma.com
