ROCHESTER — On May 6 the Board of Selectmen appointed current Fire Chief Scott Weigel as a full-time chief for the department.
Weigel took the position as permanent, part-time chief in 2009. Members of the Rochester Fire Department and firefighters from Bridgewater, Freetown and Wareham attended the meeting to witness the appointment and support Weigel.
Town Clerk Naida Parker said it was an honor to swear the chief in again. She credited Weigel with encouraging new people to come to town, among other things.
A short time later, fire engine sirens could be heard as the firefighters departed.
