Rochester Historic Commission seeks new members
Closet history geeks are wanted as potential candidates for the Rochester Historic Commission.
This town committee meets once a month, currently on the first Monday, at the Police Station meeting room on Dexter Lane. A meeting date change is planned for the future to return to Town Hall where the commission's archives are stored.
Due to recent resignations, there are openings for two members.
The commission's agenda can be as varied as viewing building plans for developments (to ensure no historic structures are at risk), to updating the list of historic properties and areas in Rochester to presenting programs at Rochester Memorial School. All meetings include sharing of interesting things members have discovered in the last month.
Those who may be interested in joining are welcome to be a guest at the Monday, March 7 meeting held at 7 p.m. at the Police Station or to drop a letter of intent to the Selectmen.
