Rochester Memorial School begins kindergarten registration

Jan 4, 2019

ROCHESTER — The new year has barely begun, but it’s already time to start thinking about the new school for parents of children that will start kindergarten in the fall. Rochester Memorial School will hold a Parent Information Night for new kindergarten families on Wednesday Jan. 30  at 5:45 p.m.

The Information Night will begin with a question and answer session in the RMS cafeteria, then continue from 6 to 7 p.m. in the kindergarten classrooms.

Enrollment packets will be available for parents to take and complete at home.

Kindergarten registration will take place by last name on on Feb. 5 to 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. Completed registration paperwork should be presented during registration.

To register, parents must bring the child’s birth certificate, a valid driver’s license, two verifications of home address, a record of immunization, and a physician’s certificate showing the date and results of a lead screening.

Each student must have a physical examination dated during the current year prior to the beginning of classes.

Organizers will work to accommodate personal schedules, but ask that parents register their children on the appropriate day if possible.

Parents whose last name begins with A through F should register their child on Tuesday Feb. 5. Parents with last names that start with G-M should register their child on Wednesday Feb. 6. And last names in the final part of the alphabet should register on Thursday Feb. 7 if possible.

Parents that have an outstanding court order or decree regarding the legal custody of their child, should bring it with them at registration time.
