Rochester riders spend time horsing around

Students at East Over Farm had one more skill to add to their riding lessons: social distancing on horseback.

On Saturday March 21, three riders were spotted galloping on horses at the Equestrian Riding Center at East Over Farms in Rochester with instructor Jocelyn Maniglia.

Hannah Harrington of Hanover rode Red Bull, while Kayla Silva of Middleboro rode Topaz and Ava Demelo of Freetown rode Sharpshooter.

Before they finished up for the day, each rider galloped along the stone fence that lines Hiller Rd on East Over Farms.

Maniglia, who is also the riding center’s owner, said that the center is “very lucky to have so much wide open space” to ride and take care of the horses.

While lessons may stop temporarily due to coronavirus concerns, staff will still take care of the horses that live on the premises.

In order to support the riding center, Maniglia has started a crowdfunding page for the center which can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/local-horses-need-your-support
