Rochester Selectmen approve Town Meeting agenda

May 24, 2016

Rochester Selectmen finalized the Town Meeting agenda on Monday night with 25 items that include elected officials' salaries, public safety equipment, a proposed bylaw regulating withdrawal of water and zoning bylaws.

The Special Town Meeting agenda was also approved, but it was brought to the attention of the Selectmen by two women from the Board of Assessors that an agenda item they submitted was missing. The board had requested an article to see if the town would vote to transfer and/or appropriate $24,984.99 from available funds to fund a 2013 deficit for a tax abatement.

Selectmen voted to reopen the agenda to add it to the warrant.

The only other article on the Special Town Meeting agenda is to determine whether the town will vote to transfer money from the stabilization fund to pay for the deficit incurred by the town from snow and ice removal. By state law, towns are allowed to overspend this fund.

Selectman Richard Nunes was not at the meeting, but both agendas were signed by the two attending Selectmen, Naida Parker and Brad Morse.

The Town Meeting will be held on June 13 at Rochester Memorial School.
