Rochester Senior Center director to retire in September

Mar 14, 2019

ROCHESTER — A replacement has been found for Rochester Senior Center Director Sharon Lally, who announced last August that she intended to retire in August 2019.

At its meeting on March 6, the Board of Directors for the Rochester Senior Center welcomed Cheryl A. Randall Mach, of Mattapoisett, as the future director of the Rochester Senior Center.

Randall Mach is the former director of the Mattapoisett Council On Aging, and has most recently been the director of the Association for the Relief of Aged Widows in New Bedford.

She will begin her tenure as the director on Aug. 1, giving her the opportunity to work with Lally for one month.

Lally, who previously held director positions in Andover and Duxbury, has been the director in Rochester since 2006. She earned a master’s degree in gerontology and has devoted 25 year of her life to working with seniors.

Over the last 13 years, Lally has expanded programming for Rochester seniors, developed a robust volunteer program and led accreditation efforts every five years. Rochester is one of few Senior Centers to achieve full accreditation from the National Council on Aging many times over.
