Rochester welcomes part-time police officer

Apr 25, 2023

ROCHESTER — “This is the best [attendance] family-wise we’ve had in a long time,” said Rochester Select Board Chair Woody Hartley during an April 24 meeting of the Rochester Select Board. “I’m very impressed.”

The Town Hall was packed with the friends and family of Daniel Allende, who was appointed as a part-time police officer for the Town of Rochester.

Allende, a Fairhaven resident, currently works full time for the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department, said Rochester Police Officer Richard Heslin, who added that Allende is “very active in the Fairhaven-Acushnet youth baseball program.”

“I can tell you that from the get-go [of the hiring process] I was impressed,” said Heslin.

Allende’s contract with the town will expire on April 30, 2024.

“Welcome aboard,” said Hartley. “We’re always pleased to have new members.”
