Rochester Women’s Club plans for Earth Day clean up
ROCHESTER — Earth Day 2023 is fast approaching and the Rochester Women's Club once again will be sponsoring this year's town wide clean up on Saturday April 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Local groups or clubs, families, neighborhoods and town organizations can join the Rochester Women’s Club as they sweep the streets of Rochester clean. There will be coffee and donuts for early birds who arrive at 9 a.m.
It takes more than a village and anyone interested in volunteering can call 508-322-0998 or send an email to rwomensclub@aol.com.
The Rochester Women’s Club’s Earth Day Project began over 20 years ago when Clean,Inc., which stands for communities living in environmentally aware neighborhoods, a non-profit organization created by Polly Church and Marsha Hartley, did the very first town-wide clean-up. They collected mattresses, paint, tires and more. Now, due to the work of the Rochester Highway department, with Jeff Eldridge at the helm, there is no longer a need for such an in-depth operation.
The Rochester Women's Club is located at 37 Marion Road in Rochester. The club meets every first and third Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. from September to May. Potential members do not need to be Rochester residents.
