Jun 25, 2013
The Marion-Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race, which began in Marion Harbor on Friday, June 14, has a winner....and it’s the smallest boat in the fleet.
The Roust, a Sea Sprite 34, skippered by Ian Gumprecht with Mark Swanson, completed the race with the fastest time.
Gumprecht and Swanson, both of New York, arrived on Wednesday morning with a corrected time of 3 days 17:44:35 on the 34-foot vessel. The men took home the Founders Trophy for best corrected time and first place in Class C.
Ronald Wisner, of Marion, and his crew took home the Beverly “Polaris” Trophy for the yacht with the best celestially-navigated performance as well as the Navigator’s Trophy.
