South Coast Bikeway Alliance plans Sept. 16, fundraising bike ride for contiguous path
The South Coast Bikeway Alliance will hold "Pedal for the Path." its first regional bike-ride fundraiser to help fund a contiguous bike path through the South Coast on Sunday, Sept. 16. The ride will begin and ends at Running Brook Vineyard in Dartmouth.
Registration opened Aug. 15. Cyclists from Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester are encouraged to participate. On site registration begins at 8 a.m.
The ride will help raise funds for an engineering feasibility study that will enable Dartmouth, New Bedford, and Westport to move closer to completing their portions of a multi-use South Coast Bikeway from Swansea to Wareham.
This 52-mile ride traverses country roads, as well as city streets and a few suburban blocks. Wine tasting and music will reward cyclists at the end.
