Splash through Marion’s natural areas
Event Date:
MARION — Children are invited to explore some of Marion’s unique natural areas with the Marion Natural History Museum this summer.
With sessions offered from Monday, July 7 through Saturday, July 11 and Monday, Aug. 4 through Saturday, Aug. 9 children will explore rocky inter-tidal shorelines, salt marshes, estuaries, freshwater riverbanks, forest, swamps, ponds and bogs.
There will also be daily trips to look for bids, amphibians, fish and invertebrates unique to the area.
Each morning will involve hands-on outdoor exploration, experiments, crafts and journaling.
This year there will be a full-day option in partnership with the Marion Recreation Department. Half the day can be spent with the museum and if extended hours are wanted, Marion Recreation will bus participants to Silvershell beach for the remainder of the day.
Space for the two sessions is limited to 15 kids, so make sure to register early. These sessions are perfect for children entering grades 2-6.
