Spring break at Pine Meadow Farm

Apr 24, 2023

MATTAPOISETT— Spring break looked a little fluffier this year as Tri-Town residents headed to the family-run Pine Meadow Farm to spend their vacation feeding goats, alpacas, rabbits and more.

The sound of parrots squawking and children giggling could be heard throughout the farm as kids raced to feed fuzzy faces.

Five-year-old Owen Excellent was excited to be reunited with Kevin the goat.

“He came to my birthday party last year,” said Excellent.

According to Pine Meadow Farm educator Dianna Paine, in addition to hosting visitors a few times each year, the farm also does home visits for birthday parties.

Paine and her family decided to open the farm to guests during spring break.

“It’s been really fun,” said Paine. “A lot of people came by, everybody really enjoyed it.”

Excellent and Kevin’s reunion came just in time for Kevin to celebrate his first birthday.

Kevin’s pen was decorated with streamers and a “Happy Birthday” banner, far from his reach to prevent unwanted snacking.

“Happy birthday Kevin,” said Excellent.

Although Excellent was excited to see Kevin, he was on a mission to find his favorite animal.

“Where are the kangaroos?” he asked.

Much to Excellent’s dismay, no Kangaroos live at Pine Meadow Farm.

But according to Paine, they house donkeys, pigs, cows, parrots, tortoises and more.

“We love our animals,” said Paine. “Everyone has a story and everyone has a name, they are all different and unique.”
