State covid data shows Mattapoisett, Rochester in yellow

This week’s state covid numbers over the past two weeks showed an increase in cases in Mattapoisett and Rochester and a bump to the yellow category on the covid data map (5-8 cases per 100,000 people), while Marion remained in the gray (less than five cases.) 

Municipalities are categorized by the state into colors depending on covid incidence rates, with gray being the lowest rates and red being the highest. 

Mattapoisett reported six cases in the last two weeks, with an incidence rate of 7.4 per 100,000 people. Rochester reported seven cases with an incidence rate of 6.3 per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile in Marion, the town has less than five cases with an incidence rate of 1.5 per 100,000 people. 

In the last two weeks, eight Rochester residents tested positive for covid (a 2.96% positive test decrease from last week), six positive tests in Mattapoisett (a 1.71% increase in positive test) and one positive result in Marion (a 0.11% increase.)

In nearby communities, Fairhaven has moved to red (more than 8 cases per 100,000 people), Wareham remained in yellow and Acushnet, New Bedford and Dartmouth all stayed in the red.
