Stockings over the fire, gingerbread men decorate Town Hall

Dec 18, 2018

ROCHESTER — Year after year, Rochester Memorial School fifth graders have decorated the Town Hall with their festive artwork with the hope of being selected for the honor of lighting the town Christmas tree.

Rows of posters adorned the walls this holiday, often depicting characters with festive sayings or, more often than not, a Christmas tree.

This year’s competition winner was fifth-grader Cadel Bosma, who drew a stocking resting above a fireplace with the words “peace on earth” written on it.

Bosma’s selection was announced at the annual tree lighting ceremony in town and he was given the opportunity to light the tree himself.

The posters still hang inside the Town Hall and will continue to do so until the end of December.
