Students awarded scholarships to pursue careers in healthcare
MATTAPOISETT — Four recent Old Rochester high school graduates who intend to pursue careers in healthcare received scholarships from the Southcoast Health Ambassadors.
These students are Ella Bartholomew, Elizabeth Houdelette, Caitlin O’Donnell and Alexa St. Louis, who received the scholarships on behalf of Tobey Hospital.
Bartholomew received the BayCoast Bank Scholarship and plans to attend Boston University where she intends to major in biochemistry on a pre-med track.
Houdelette received the Wylde Family Scholarship and plans to attend Springfield College where she will major in physical assistant studies.
O’Donnell received the Wylde Family Scholarship and plans to attend The University of Michigan and major in clinical psychology.
St. Louis received the Wylde Family Scholarship and plans to attend Sacred Heart University where she will major in nursing.
Each student received $1,500 toward their college educations.
SouthCoast Health Ambassador presented 28 scholarships to recent local high school graduates on behalf of the SouthCoast Health hospitals.
Scholarships were awarded to students who are pursuing careers in healthcare.
“We are honored to support these students on their professional journeys,” said President and CEO of Southcoast Health David McCready. “By supporting students who are pursuing careers in healthcare and medicine today, we are ensuring that there will be skilled caregivers to serve our region in the future.”
The scholarships are funded through a collaborative effort made possible by the combined generosity of individual donors and the Southcoast Health Ambassadors. Each scholarship includes a $1,000 donation that is matched with a $500 contribution from the Ambassadors.
“Supporting these remarkable students is a part of Southcoast Health’s commitment to building a stronger, healthier future for our region,” said Executive Director of Hospital and Medical Staff Services Kimberley Coon. “We hope to one day welcome them back to Southcoast Health — not just as graduates but as valued members of our healthcare community.”
