Students bring Christmas carols to Sippican Healthcare Center

Dec 5, 2019

MARION — Residents of Sippican Healthcare Center were treated to a selection of Christmas carols from the Old Hammondtown School’s chorus and band on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5.

Activities Director Anne O’Connell Bishop said that students from the school have been visiting Sippican Healthcare to play their Christmas concert for years now, and that she and others at the center were “thankful to have them.”

The Old Hammondtown School Band performed their selection of popular Christmas music first. Director Christian Dow led the group of fifth and sixth graders and said “It’s good to put all that practice to good use, playing in the community.”

He added that the band will perform again on Dec. 11 at 6:30 at the School.

Willow Dowling led a group of fourth and fifth graders through their selection of classic carols and encouraged the audience to sing along.

“It’s just great to share the music with adults,” she said of the performance

Dowling said that with the chorus and band combined, about 40 young musicians performed at Sippican Health Center.
