A new month brings new programs to the library. The library has begun selling its 2016 winter ornaments. Each ornament is engraved with “ETL 2016” and are made by McDermott Glass Studio. They cost $30 each. Here’s what else is going on in the month of October at Elizabeth Taber Library.

Oct. 4: Drop in tech help is available from 11-12 p.m. on Tuesdays from Oct. 4- Nov. 15. If you cannot make it on Tuesday mornings, call the library to set up an appointment.

Oct. 5 Mystery Book Club: The monthly adult mystery book club will meet to talk about 1st To Die by James Patterson. The next meeting is Nov. 2 about The Good Girl by Mary Kubica.

Oct. 10- The library is closed in observance of Columbus Day.

Oct. 13 Coloring for Adults: If you like to color and chat with others, come to the library for an adult coloring session at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Oct. 18 Afternoon Book Club: The group will meet at 2 p.m. to discuss The Wright Brothers by David McCullough. The next meeting is on Nov. 15, to discuss A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson.

Oct. 18 Travel Talk: Cuba: Arlene Lowney will take listeners on a journey through Cuba, while showing her pictures of the beautiful sites and sharing her experiences of Cuban history and culture. Call 508-748-1252 or email eoneill@sailsinc.org to register.

Oct. 21 Thoughts on the Presidential Election with Larry Dicara: The library is hosting a special program at Marion Music Hall to discuss the upcoming presidential election. Dicara has been teaching and writing about politics for almost 50 years. He has served 10 years on the Boston City Council and has been a member of the Democratic State Committee for over 40 years.

Oct. 22 Cartooning Workshop for Teens: Cara Bean is hosting a cartooning workshop at the library for anyone willing to give drawing a try. In the workshop, she will guide participants through a series of playful drawing activities. The sketches will culminate in a complete creative experience. Bean is an art teacher from the Boston area. When she is not teaching, she makes comic books that relate to her experiences and fills sketchbooks with funny doodles. Registration is required. Oct. 3 Children’s Fall Story Times: The Fall Story Time program is for children between the ages of 3 and 5, and begins Oct. 3 and runs through Nov. 28. Children are invited to enjoy stories, finger-plays and crafts every Monday at 10:30 a.m.

The Fall Lapsit program is for children birth through 23 months and their caregivers. It begins Oct. 4 and runs through Nov. 29. Each Tuesday morning program begins at 10:30 a.m.a nd includes a 20-minute story time, followed by 20 minutes of socializing. One child per lap, please.

The Fall Tales for Twos program is for children from 24-36 months, and it begins Oct. 5 and runs through Nov. 30. Children must be 2 years old by Oct. 1 to attend, and must be accompanied by an enthusiastic adult. There is a half hour of stories, finger plays and crafts that takes place every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
