Tabor Academy building struck by lightning
May 26, 2017
A building at Tabor Academy was struck by lightning at around 1 a.m. on Friday, igniting a small roof fire.
The lightning struck the roof peak on a faculty residence. The Marion Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. There was some damage to the home, but the family living in the residence was unharmed.
The house that was hit was not attached to any student dorms, but the strike did “set off a number of fire alarms in other buildings and a number of dorms nearby,” Head of School John Quirk wrote in a letter to parents.
