Thelma Connor, 93
Thelma A. (Austin) Connor, 93, of Mattapoisett died Aug. 10 peacefully after a long and beautiful life.
She was the wife of the late John J. Connor with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward A. and Ethel (Taylor) Austin, she lived in New Bedford before moving to Mattapoisett in 1971.
Mrs. Connor was an active communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.
She was a volunteer at Market Ministries in New Bedford. Mrs. Connor enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and knitting.
Survivors include her seven children, Barbara Best of Rotonda, Florida, Patricia Desautels of Berkley, Kathleen Gerry of Swansea, Richard Connor of Wayne, New Jersey, Francis Connor of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mary Ellen Connor of New Bedford and Martha Connor of Marion; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Edward Austin and Irene Tuttle.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Road (Route 6), Mattapoisett, followed by her funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church at noon.
