There’s always a lot to do in the Tri-Town. This week learn about forestry, read a banned book or learn to shoot.

Saturday, Sept. 23

Gravestone girls
From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. take a tour of Marion’s Evergreen Cemetery and learn about the symbolism and history of gravestone art with the “Gravestone Girls.” Space is limited, to register call the Elizabeth Taber Library at (508) 748-1252.

Hispanic Heritage Month
At 10 a.m. the Elizabeth Taber Library and Tri-Town Against Racism will host a “community read” to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The book will be “Family Lore” by Elizabeth Acevedo.

Women on Target
From 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Sippican Rod and Gun Club at 215 Dexter Lane, will host its annual “Women on Target” firearm safety course. The program will teach the NRA Home Firearm Safety Course which qualifies participants to apply for a Massachusetts License-To-Carry, or Firearms Identification card. Tuesday, Sept. 26

Banned Book Club
At 6:30 p.m. join the Elizabeth Taber Library to discuss S.E. Hinton’s novel The Outsiders.

Wednesday, Sept. 27

Forestry for the Future
From 3 to 4 p.m., Colleen Andrews of the Mattapoisett Land Trust will present on about climate-smart forestry management, the approach that will be used on Mattapoisett Land Trust sites, and why creating resilient forests matters in terms of climate change.
