Friday, Nov. 11

Veterans Day: Marion’s Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the VFW Building. The guest speaker will be Capt. Eduardo Fernandez, who is on faculty at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.

In Mattapoisett, a Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Old Hammondtown School. Col. Joseph McGraw will speak, and the OHS Band and Chorus will perform.

Dinner with veterans: The Mattapoisett Congregational Church is hosting a Veterans Day dinner to remember and honor veterans. Attendants are encouraged to invite a veteran. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and supper will be served at 5. The event is free but donations are accepted.

The chase is on: The Sippican Historical Society and Marion Council on Aging will show “The Paper Chase” at the Music Hall at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 12

Veggies aplenty: The Old Rochester Winter Farmers Market begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. The market is inside the Old Rochester Regional Junior High gym.

Yard sale with friends: The Mattapoisett Friends Meeting will hold a yard sale/moving sale as part of continuing efforts to raise funds for a restoration project at the Quaker meetinghouse that is scheduled to start later this month. The sale will be from 8:30-12 p.m.

Dinner with St. Vincent: The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Rita’s Parish in Marion is hosting a spaghetti dinner and social from 6-8 p.m. It will be held at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall on Barstow Street in Mattapoisett. Tuesday, Nov. 15

A taste of Italy: The Elizabeth Taber Library will present an author talk with John F. Carafoli at 6:30 p.m.

Carafoli will discuss his latest book, “Great Italian American Food in New England: History, Traditions & Memories.” A book signing will follow the lecture.

“Screenagers”: The Old Rochester Regional School District will show the film “Screenagers” at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. This film is about the impact of the digital age on kids and how to find balance. The event is free and the school district encourages families to attend. Students in grades three and older are welcome to view the film with their parents. There will be child care in the gym for younger kids.
