Third annual Oktoberfest moves to Music Hall

Aug 23, 2016

With alpine instruments aplenty, this year's Oktoberfest on Sept. 17 will appropriately be in the Music Hall.

The third annual Bavarian festival, hosted by the Marion Masons, is moving from its previous location at the VFW, but will offer the same lively entertainment and German cuisine as it has in past years.

“It's become a tradition in the area,” said Bruce Rocha Sr., an organizer of the event and member of the Pythagorean Lodge in Marion.

The new location doesn't have a kitchen as the VFW does, but the Masons will cook at their lodge, located less than two blocks away.

Besides the bratwurst and sauerkraut, there will, of course, be beer.

Rocha said there will be authentic German beer provided by L. Knife and Son in Plymouth.

The event will go from 12 to 8 p.m., food served until 7 p.m., and it will have something for the whole family, including traditional dancing and music.

The building, located on the corner of Front Street and Cottage Street, is handicap accessible.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Masonic Angel Fund, which benefits children in need, from sending them to camp to purchasing musical instruments.

Tickets are available for $10 at the door and $9 online.
