Three take out papers for Marion Selectmen

Three people have pulled papers for a single vacancy on Marion’s Board of Selectmen, but no one is officially running yet.

Steve Gonsalves, Norm Hills and Dale Jones all took out papers for the position currently occupied by Selectman Jon Henry, who has announced that he will not seek re-election.

Henry has taken out papers for the Planning Board, as have Steve Kokkins and Will Saltonstall. Saltonstall is the only one, so far, who has submitted papers for one of two vacancies.

For the Marion School Committee, current member Christine Marcolini has taken out papers. No one has done so for the Old Rochester Regional School Committee yet.

John Rockwell and Randy Parker, incumbents on the Open Space Committee, have also pulled papers.

Below is a complete list of open seats: Selectman, one position for three years; assessor, one position for three years; moderator, one position for one year; board of health, one position for three years; planning board, two positions for three years; ORR School Committee, one position for three years; Marion School Committee, one position for three years; open space acquisition commission, two positions for three years.

Marion’s annual town election will be held on Friday, May 13. Nomination papers for elected positions are available at the town clerk’s office, 2 Spring St.

Papers must be returned to the town clerk’s office for certification Friday, March 25 by 5 p.m. The last day to withdraw a nomination, in writing, to the town clerk is April 11.
