Three vie for Marion Selectman seat
It looks like there will be a three-way race for Selectmen, though there is still time for someone else to run. Nomination papers for all positions in the May 13 annual town election are due on Friday, March 25.
Steve Gonsalves, Norm Hills and Dale Jones have all submitted their nomination papers for the position currently occupied by Selectman Jon Henry, who announced several months ago that he would not seek re-election.
In the race for Planning Board, so far Will Saltonstall, Steve Kokkins and William Do Carmo have submitted their papers for two open positions. John Henry and Jerry Ferrari have also pulled papers but have yet to submit them.
For the Marion School Committee, current member Christine Marcolini has submitted papers. Heather Burke has pulled papers for an open seat on the Old Rochester Regional School Committee.
Incumbent Albin Johnson and Jason Reynolds have both submitted papers for one position on the Board of Health.
To date, the job of town moderator has no takers, and while three people have pulled papers for the Open Space Committee, no one has turned them in yet.
Below is a complete list of seats up for election: Selectman, one position for three years; assessor, one position for three years; moderator, one position for one year; board of health, one position for three years; planning board, two positions for three years; ORR School Committee, one position for three years; Marion School Committee, one position for three years; open space acquisition commission, two positions for three years.
Marion’s annual town election will be held on Friday, May 13. Nomination papers for elected positions are available at the town clerk’s office, 2 Spring St.
Papers must be returned to the town clerk’s office for certification Friday, March 25 by 5 p.m. The last day to withdraw a nomination, in writing, to the town clerk is April 11.
