Tri-town Halloween: sweets, spooky dances, hayride scares

There are a lot of Halloween events happening in the tri-town in the next four days. For more information about the upcoming events, visit Sippican Week.

Friday, October 26

Trunk or Treat

Old Colony Regional is hosting a trunk or treat event from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Old Colony students will decorate their cars and hand out candy in the school parking lot. The event is free but donations will be collected for 21Friends, a support group for family and friends of those with Down Syndrome.

Haunted Hayrides

Rochester Boyscout Troop 32 will be hosting a family-friendly haunted hayride from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 85 High St. The cost is $10.00 per car and refreshements will be available for purchase. The event will also be held Saturday, Oct. 27.

Rochester Memorial Dance

Rochester Memorial School will hold its Halloween dance from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $5 per family and adult supervision is required. Costumes are encouraged but no props, masks or unsafe equipment will be permitted at the event.  Pizza, beverages and other treats will be available for purchase. The Scholastic Book Fair will also run during the dance.

Saturday, October 27

Family Fun Fest

The Mattapoisett Lions Club will host its third annual Family Fun Festival on Oct. 27 and residents are invited to participate in the event. 

The event will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Shipyard Park. The event is free and open to all ages. 

Festivities include hay rides, pin the nose on the pumpkin, pumpkin bowling, corn hole toss, a pumpkin patch, a coloring station, goody bags, apple cider, hot chocolate, music and more.

Wednesday, October 31

Enjoy a spooky parade

The Marion Art Center will host its annual Halloween parade on Wednesday, Oct. 31 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Marion Music Hall.

Under the direction of Hannah Moore, the Sippican Elementary School drummers will lead the parade of witches and princesses, goblins and ghouls, wild animals, and spooky spirits. The parade route will head south on Front Street, up Main Street, north onto Spring Street and back down Cottage Street to the Music Hall.

Once back at Music Hall, the Marion Art Center will hand out a surprise goody bag. This is a family event, and all ages are allowed to participate.

Treats with Rochester Women’s Club

The Rochester Women’s Club will open its doors to local trick or treaters this year at 37 Marion Rd. Members of the club will dress in costumes and hand out treats on Halloween between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Mattapoisett Police Parade

The Mattapoisett Police Department is hosting its annual Halloween parade at 6 p.m. beginning at Center School. Trick or treating will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the lighthouse.
