Turkey dinner sign-ups at Middleboro food pantry
MIDDLEBORO — The Society of St. Vincent DePaul, the operator of the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, is now signing up Rochester families to receive a complete Thanksgiving meal consisting of a frozen turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes, vegetables, gravy, a pie, and dinner rolls.
Sign-ups will take place at the food pantry, which is located in the basement of 53 Oak St. in Middleboro, when the pantry is open.
Pantry hours are: the first four Saturdays of the month from 8:30 to 11 a.m.; the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 8:30 to 11 a.m.; and the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The last day to register is Saturday, Nov. 19 before 11 a.m.
Anyone who cannot make it to the food pantry can call (508) 947-1717 and select option 1. A representative from the food pantry will return the call.
Thanksgiving meals will be available to anyone in need, whether or not the person is a pantry recipient. Anyone who is not a pantry patron must live in Middleboro, Lakeville, Rochester, or Carver and provide proof of residency, such as a utility bill, tax bill, lease agreement, or similar document dated within the last 60 days.
Applicants must meet USDA income guidelines for food assistance which they already do if they are qualified for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP, benefits.
The meals will be distributed at the food pantry on Tuesday, Nov. 22 between 9 a.m. and noon. The meals will also be available from 3 to 6 p.m. Anyone who fails to pick up their meal will be ineligible to sign up for any holiday meals for the year.
The food pantry is planning to provide about 300 meals this year. If anyone wishes to donate to this event, send a check to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, P.O. Box 1381, Middleboro, MA, 02346. Put “Holiday Meals” in the memo space.
