Aug 2, 2022

MARION – The Elizabeth Taber Library is rounding out the summer with a schedule of events for kids and adults.

Join artist Jeanine Cappuccino for twice monthly adult art workshop classes. The first class is Thursday, Aug. 11, 6-7:30 p.m. and will teach attendees to create a sketch journal. Cappuccino will teach the elements of creating realistic qualities in sketching.

The second class will be on Aug. 27 from 10-11:30 a.m. and will be about perspective. Learn about one and two point perspectives, then apply those techniques to landscape sketching of Marion landmarks. The class will include a walk around Marion.

Sign up at the library for one or both classes.

On Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., join host Jay Pateakos to talk about “Hell Town: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer on Cape Cod” by Casey Sherman.

For kids who want to craft, join author Alec Carvlin for an interactive reading of his picture book, “How to Bake a Universe” on Friday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. Visitors will do cosmic crafts inspired by his story.

Celebrate the end of summer reading with an ice cream social and splash party on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be lawn games, ice cream, sidewalk chalk, and a splash pad. The event is sponsored by Kool Kone.

These programs are brought to you with federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
