Twenty from Many Campaign creeps up on goal - and deadline

Apr 25, 2017

The Marion Fireworks Committee has raised about $10,000 of their $40,000 goal.

In an update posted to the committee's GoFundMe page on April 23, they announced that 92 donors had raised had raised over $10,000 in the previous six weeks. According to the page, that was an average of $108 per donation.

The Twenty from Many Campaign was launched in March, and intended to solicit $20 from each person who had enjoyed the fireworks in the past.

While the campaign may have done well to raise such an amount in so little time, the May 1st deadline is creeping dangerously close.

Last year's fireworks were canceled because the committee received only $13,000 in donations. Those funds are still in the bank, but an additional $40,000 is needed by that date to see lights over Silver Shell Beach again this Fourth of July.
