Two motor vehicle thefts early Monday morning

MARION — Two vehicles were presumably stolen in Marion during the early hours of Monday, Sept. 29, in the area of Village Drive and Fieldstone Lane.  

The first vehicle was located in New Bedford several hours later through the motor vehicle’s location function. 

Hours later, the New Bedford Police Department was investigating a motor crash. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and determined that the vehicle was also stolen.  

The Marion Police Department is currently investigating the situation.

Marion Police Chief Richard Nighelli was not able to provide a comment at the time of publication. 

Residents are reminded to always lock vehicles, close windows, not leave keys or valuables in a vehicle and park in well-lit areas whenever possible.
