Mar 13, 2020

MATTAPOISETT — As of Friday March 13 Town of Mattapoisett will move to prevent coronavirus by canceling all meetings and community events next week. After that time, the town will reassess if this will continue based on current health data.

The Council on Aging Office will remain open with staff available to answer any question that seniors may have, however questions by phone or email are preferred. Activities in the Council on Aging Center are canceled for all next week. Updates for subsequent activities will be sent as needed.

The town will continue to provide council on aging drivers and the bus that makes grocery runs through the usual the scheduling system.

Selectmen encourage residents to ask if seniors need anything when they go shopping so that they will not have to go out.

The Public Library will be open for patrons to come in and get books and other library materials. All meetings, story hours, gatherings or groups of people using the Library for gathering purposes are canceled for next week, at which point the town will reassess.

The town asks that its residents not come into any public building if they have had any respiratory illnesses, the flu or have traveled out of the United States within the last two weeks.

For remote assistance, call Town Hall at 508-758-4100 and dial extension 4 to speak with the office for the Selectmen and Town Administrator.
