Watershed ride brings record number of riders

Oct 1, 2018

The 12th annual Buzzards Bay Coalition Watershed Ride brought 242 riders through the tri-town area on Sunday Sept. 30 and raised $162,500 to support clean water efforts in Buzzards Bay.

The fundraiser offered three different route lengths for its participants. Cyclists in the 75 and 100 mile routes passed through the tri-town area on their way to the finish line in Woods Hole. Riders on the 35-mile route kicked off from East Over Farm in Rochester at noon.

In addition to routes that brought riders through through town, tri-town residents and businesses also participated in the race or offered support. Oxford Creamery had a food truck at the event for riders who stopped for lunch.  The event’s website also named David “Chip” Johns of Mattapoisett as the top individual fundraiser for the event, raising $5,600 for the cause.
