Winston Sharples appointed to Rochester Plumb Library Board of Trustees

Nov 20, 2012

Following the resignation of one of its own, the Rochester Plumb Library Board of Trustees will welcome Winston Sharples, Jr. as an interim member.

Recently, member Elizabeth Owen submitted her resignation from the board citing “health reasons.”

With the endorsement of board member Gail Roberts, the Selectmen appointed Sharples to the board on Monday night.

Sharples is no stranger to the library, Roberts said.

“He has been a regular participant to the non-fiction book group. He has also been coming to the meetings as a guest. He knows the drill,” Roberts said.

Last April, Sharples ran for one of two open seats on the board in the annual Town Election, but lost by just eight votes. Sharples garnered 134 to Jennifer Kulak’s 159 and Mary Duryea Levenson’s 142.

With his appointment, Sharples will serve on the board until the Town Election in April when the seat will once again go on the ballot.
