Winter weather returns with force on Tuesday

Mar 13, 2017

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 5 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday and only the kids who have a test on Tuesday are excited about it.

The snow is expected to begin between 5 and 7 a.m. with 2 to 4 inches per hour of accumulation expected through the morning. The snow could change to sleet and rain by Tuesday afternoon.

Travel is expected to be dangerous, due to poor visibility and snow-covered roads. Visibility may be less than a quarter of a mile at times.

There will also be a high wind warning in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Strong winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, may cause scattered power outages throughout the area. The high winds may also cause possible downed trees or branches.
