Mattapoisett Council on Aging events
The Mattapoisett Council on Aging has a number of events and trips planned for the summer.
Speaker & Lunch Series
July 16
Living Wills: Gentiva Hospice will offer a free session called “5 Wishes” to explore living wills at the Mattapoisett Council on Aging. The session will have information on how people can establish their wishes for important issues in the event that they are rendered unable to speak for themselves. Adults of all ages are welcome. Subway sandwiches will be provided for lunch. The event will be Tuesday, July 16 at noon.
July 23
The council will host two programs back to back. Lunch is $3. Please RSVP by Friday, July 19. First, Plymouth County Mosquito Control will give a 15-minute presentation on mosquito control at noon. At 12:15 p.m., the Plymouth County Registrar of Deeds will present information on the Homestead Act, educating people on how to protect their homes from unforeseen situations.
Day trips
July 18
The council will take a group to Derby Shoppes in Hingham. The van leaves the Mattapoisett Park & Ride at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $7. RSVP by July 16. P by 7/16
July 25
A trip to Bay Pointe Restaurant in Wareham will leave at 9 a.m. from the Mattapoisett Park & Ride. The van cost is $5. RSVP by July 23.
August 8
The council will take a trip to Stoneforge Tavern in Raynham, leaving from the Park & Ride at 11:15 a.m. The cost is $6. RSVP by August 6
August 15
Take a trip to the Peabody Essex Museum and see the Faberge Revealed exhibit. The van leaves the Park & Ride at 8 a.m. The van cost is $10. Admission to the museum is $13 for seniors with an additional $5 for the Faberge exhibit. RSVP by August 9.
The council also has a number of ongoing activities to stimulate the mind and exercise the body. The council's center is located at 17 Barstow St. To RSVP to any of the above events or for more information, call 508-758-4110
