A suspicious man with a dog approached children at Sippican School on Thursday, Nov. 14, resulting in a call to police. The caller stated that a school aide bringing students out to recess around noon observed a man walking a small black and grey dog in the area of the tennis courts located behind the school.

The man who had a dog tried to speak with the kids, said police. He then got into his Jeep, which was parked nearby.

A short while later the man got back out of the car and was seen lying on the grass in the same location.

The aide said that the man abruptly left the area when he observed her making a call into the school to report his presence.

Officers went to the area on Thursday but did not find the man; however, in a statement released on Tuesday, police said they were able to identify and locate the man.

The man is not being brought up on any charges or allegations, said police.
