The next 'American Idol'? Rochester's Jillian Jensen heads to Hollywood
Jillian Jensen is getting used to being in the spotlight.
Last year, the songstress was one of 60 contestants on FOX’s talent TV show “The X Factor,” along with fellow Rochester native Jennel Garcia. Now she's going back to Hollywood after auditioning for the singing competition, “American Idol”.
The show’s 13th season premiered on Wednesday, Jan. 15 and featured Jensen’s Boston audition in front of Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban.
With her guitar in hand, Jensen, who cites Johnny Cash as her top inspiration, covered Gavin DeGraw’s “I’m Not Over You.”
Jensen’s heart no doubt skipped a beat when after the song Connick said, “I freakin’ loved it, so I'm gonna vote ‘no.’”
He quickly made it clear he was joking and voted ‘yes’ as did the other judges. As a bonus, Jensen even got a hug from the crooner.
From her Twitter account, @ItsJillJensen, the singer wrote, “I strongly disliked how I sounded in my audition lol... I was so freakin nervous and shaky haha, but... There's always Hollywood.”
With the coveted American Idol “golden ticket,” Jensen will enter the next round of the competition in Hollywood.
