The SouthCoast Bikeway Alliance is announcing the First Annual South Coast Summer Bike Challenge. During July, August and September, communities will compete against each other to log the most miles collectively on their bicycles. Participants can log miles online at the National Bike Challenge and track the progress of other towns.

The winning community will have bragging rights and a trophy to display in their city or town. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the event, with awards to  the community that logs the most miles (per 1,000 residents.) Awards will also be given to the male and female individual leader, the senior leader (over 65), the teen leader and the child leader (12 and under.)
