Marion Town Moderator to step down after 35 years

Mar 6, 2015

After more than three decades of service, Town Moderator David Titus will not seek reelection.

Town Administrator Paul Dawson informed Selectmen about the news at the board’s Friday meeting.

“That’s an incredible run for an elected official to serve for thirty-five straight years,” Dawson said.

Board members praised Titus for making sure that Town Meetings ran smoothly.

“Town Meeting just doesn’t happen. There’s a lot of work that goes into it,” Selectman Jody Dickerson said. “He’s always been respectful to everyone and let everyone have their say without letting the meeting get out of hand.”

Selectman Steve Cushing encouraged interested residents to consider running for the position.

The deadline to submit nomination papers is March 23 at 5 p.m. Papers are available in the Town House. Marion’s election is May 15.
