Mattapoisett beach is open!

The Town Beach was officially opened on Saturday and Mattapoisett Recreation celebrated with Beach Olympics, face painting and food.
"We wanted to make it family friendly and fun and segue into camp," said Mattapoisett Recreation staff member Jennifer Scully, referring to the Seahorse Summer Explorers Camp.
The event was also the first time folks could tour the newly revamped beach house. The bathrooms were renovated last summer but have been further improved with benches that allow for easier changing. A mural by Debra Nettles is in the works in the beach house's main room. The outside was also given a fresh look with new siding.
"It fits so much better with the neighborhood," said Scully.
New outdoor play equipment was also added.
