'The Wizard of Oz' to debut March 31 at ORR
Follow the yellow brick road to the Old Rochester Regional High School auditorium for the Drama Club's production of "The Wizard of Oz," March 31 to April 3.
The musical will be a celebration of the 1939 MGM film and feature the familiar characters of Dorothy, Toto, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow in this production. "Over the Rainbow," "If I Only Had a Brain," "We're Off to See the Wizard," and more classic songs will also be part of the play.
"The Wizard of Oz" will feature Hannah Deane as Dorothy, Evan Roznoy as Professor Marvel and The Wizard of Oz. The cast will also feature Nick Claudio as the Tin Man, Kyle Costa as the Lion, Rikard Bodin as the Scarecrow, Sienna Wurl as Auntie Em, Drew Robert as Uncle Henry, Lexi Melloni as Glinda, Serena Iacovelli as The Wicked Witch, and Sarah Lafrance as Toto. The ensemble includes Sara Achorn, Emily Faulkner, Colleen Garcia, Cammie Kidney and Celeste Hartley. Twenty-five children from the tri-town school system are also featured as the Munchkins.
Costumes are by Helen Blake, music is by Michael Barnicle, and Paul Sardinha directs.
The production will be Thursday, March 31 through Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for students and seniors and $15 for general public, and are available at The Pen & Pendulum in Mattapoisett, The Marion General Store in Marion and Plumb Corner Market in Rochester. ORR is located on Route 6 in Mattapoisett. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
