Rochester Selectmen question new signs from ORR

Apr 20, 2016

New signs celebrating Old Rochester Regional’s athletic achievements have popped up at the entrances to Rochester, Marion and Mattapoisett. But on Tuesday night, Rochester Selectmen said no one got their permission first.

“The Agricultural Commission had to get approval, and then we turn around and look the other way when someone else puts signs up?” said Select Chair Naida Parker.  “It’s the issue of setting a precedence.”

Highway Surveyor Jeff Eldridge put up the signs that made Selectmen do a “double take” when they entered the town boundaries.

Selectmen said they did not want to take down the signs, but they do want ORR to officially request the signs to go up.
