New Bedford Symphony brings 'Wide World of Music' to Mattapoisett

Jul 12, 2016

Two members of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra will hold a free concert at The Ropewalk, “The Wide World of Music: From Mozart to Ragtime, From Bluegrass to Disney!” on Thursday, July 21.

“During the summer we like to do a series of small concerts in different locations,” said Dave Prentiss, president of the orchestra.

He said this is the first Mattapoisett concert for the summer series.

“We try to move around to cool locations,” he said.

Violinist Noemi Miloradovic and cellist Peter Zay will play a variety of music for this family-friendly event.

“There will definitely be some Mozart, but there’s also going to be some bluegrass fiddling, some blues, some ragtime, a tune or two from Disney,” Prentiss said. “It’s going to be something that parents, kids, everybody will really like.”

The performance will be under a tent outside at The Ropewalk and will be held from 7 to 8 p.m.
