Affordable housing lottery in Marion Feb. 28

Dec 27, 2016

A lottery will be held for nine affordable single-family homes being built at Sippican Woods.

Sippican Woods is part of the same Baywatch Realty project that built the 60-unit Marion Village Estates affordable apartment complex. There will be 36 houses in total at 32 Village Drive.

The nine homes will be sold at affordable prices to households with incomes at or below 80 percent of the area median income.

On Jan. 24, there will be an informational session about the project at the Elizabeth Taber Library at 6 p.m.

Applications are due at 2 p.m. on Feb. 14. The lottery is on Feb. 28.

The first affordable homes will be ready in the spring of 2017, with the majority of homes available at the end of 2017 and into 2018.

Each home is approximately 1,600 square feet with three bedrooms and one and a half baths.

Each house also has a farmers porch on the front with PVC deck, rails and trim, as well as 10-foot by 10-foot pressure treated decks in the rear.

The laundry room is located on the first floor of the homes, off of the kitchen.

The kitchen, bathrooms and dining room have tile floors, the kitchen has Formica counter tops and the bathrooms have one-piece cultured marble tops and sinks.

Living rooms and bedrooms are carpeted, and all houses have central air and heat and unfinished basements.

The sales price for the three-bedroom unit is $213,300, and the Homeowners Association fees are $45 a month. The maximum allowable household income is as follows:

1-person household: $46,000

2-person household: $52,600

3-person household: $59,150
