Hockey Unlimited celebrated the end of its 52nd season with a presentation of three awards.

Norah Schiappa of Wareham and Aaron Delaney of Plymouth received the Most Improved Player awards.

“Norah and Aaron each have shown that hard work and dedication can pay handsome dividends,” Tim Dyer, managing director and head coach of Hockey Unlimited, said while presenting the awards.

Dyer went on to say, “Both Norah’s and Aaron's skating and related hockey skills have improved almost every session with us. We are pleased to have both of them on our roster.”

Assistant coach Scott Delaney received the Hutchinson Family Sportsmanship Award, named after the long-time Southeastern Massachusetts hockey family for “outstanding contributions to the program relative to sportsmanship and preserving the true spirit and ‘love of the game’ of hockey.”

“I am very pleased to see Scott recognized by Hockey Unlimited in this way. The sportsmanship, fellowship and friendly spirit he brings to our organization clearly contributes to the culture we strive for with our young people - on and off the ice,” said Coach Jim Hutchinson Jr.

Jim Hutchinson Sr., the patriarch of the Hutchinson family, was on hand to present the award to “a man’s man,” as Delaney was described at the ceremony. Hutchinson Sr. noted that it recently came to the organization’s attention that Delaney and his wife Lisa adopted his late sister-in-law’s three children approximately 14 years ago, after her passing, bringing the family’s total to seven kids. He is a long-time employee of Suffolk Construction, the firm that undertook the construction project 15 years ago for Tabor Academy’s Fish Center for Health and Athletics, including the hockey rink.

Hockey Unlimited is held at Tabor Academy’s Travis Roy Rink and teaches the fundamentals of ice hockey to males and females of all ages.

Dyer expressed his thanks for Tabor’s contribution to the program.

“For the 52nd consecutive season, Tabor has demonstrated consistent community outreach by offering our local organization quality ice time at a reasonable rate. The coaches and players of Hockey Unlimited – past and present – are very grateful.”
