'Take your Child to the Library Day' at Plumb Library

Jan 28, 2018

Rochester's Plumb Library is participating in national "Take Your Child to the Library Day" on February 3.

The celebration is an international initiative that encourages families everywhere to take their children to their local library. There, families can learn about the importance of the library in the life of a child.

The library's schedule of events is as follows:

10:30 - 11:15 a.m.: Mr. Vinny's Shadow Puppet Show: Vinny Lovegrove of the Toe Jam Puppet Band will be on-hand for magical storytelling using shadows in an interactive show.

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Library Scavenger Hunt, "The Missing Book Mystery." Children can follow clues to help find the lost books.

12:30-1 p.m. - Meet Amos the Greyhound, a reading therapy dog who visits Plumb Library, and get an "I Love Reading to Amos" bookmark.

Also taking place throughout the day is Meet "The Book Whisperer." This mysterious figure will tell you what book you will read next.

The Junior Friends of the Library will also present a "Library Show-and-Tell." Families will meet members of the Plumb Library Board of Trustees, as well as the Junior Friends. Families will see the library's telescope, snow shoes, and ukulele.

Children and families will also earn tickets for prize drawings. The day's programs are sponsored by the Friends of Plumb Library.
