Selectman Naida Parker will not seek re-election

Feb 1, 2018

Rochester Selectman Naida Parker will not seek re-election when her term ends later this year.

Parker has served as a selectman for 15 years, serving five non-consecutive terms. She has also been Rochester's Town Clerk since 1984—a post she still retains.

Parker was originally elected to the Board of Selectmen in 2000, but stepped down after two terms when her husband passed away. She returned to the board in 2009.

Two candidates in town are currently seeking her position on the board; Rochester's Emergency Management Director Paul Ciaburri, and realtor Cathy Mendoza.

Ciaburri returned his papers, with requisite signatures, on Jan. 23.

Nomination paper returns are due on February 21.
