Power restoration could be a 'multi-day' event

Mar 13, 2018

Eversource has said that, with 145,000 customers without power in the Plymouth and Yarmouth areas, it may be a few days before power can be restored.

According to Eversource, "heavy, wet snow and strong winds gusting 60 miles per hour or more" are impeding the safety of Eversource workers, who cannot go out in the weather until the storm subsides.

Customers, the company said, should prepare for (and expect) a multi-day power outage.

Fifty-six percent of Rochester is without power as of 1:30 p.m., totaling 1,396 residents. The town's emergency shelter, at Rochester's Senior Center on Dexter Lane, is open to all residents and those seeking warmth, snacks, and a place to charge electronics.

Marion and Mattapoisett have been harder hit by the storm—64 percent of Mattapoisett residents remain without power, while a whopping 97 percent of Marion residents are in the dark.
